This might be a rhetorical question. I believe every person, no matter where they live, what their background is or religious affiliation is, desires to have wisdom for everyday decisions. Outside of all the little decisions we have to make every day, all of us face big decisions from time to time too.
Would you like to be able to quickly and confidently arrive at answers to all questions or conflicts ALL the time?
First of all, if you've never heard of Solomon, he is recorded in 1 Kings 3 to be the wisest person that ever lived. With his wisdom came extreme wealth, honor, the demise of his enemies and a long life! At the very beginning of his time as king, God asked him what he wanted. (I wonder what our answer would be if God asked us that question today) :)
Solomon replied that he wanted wisdom. I love verse 13... God said, "Because you asked for the right thing, I will also give you what you didn't ask for as a bonus...riches, fame and a long life!"
Jesus is saying the same thing to us today. "Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness (His ways of doing and being right) and THEN all these other things will be added to you." (Matt. 6:33) Solomon was the perfect example of Matt. 6:33 in action! Too many times we have the process backwards... seeking the things first and expecting the kingdom of God to fall upon us.
In Luke 12:32 Jesus says "It is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom."
Since we know that it pleases our Father to give us the kingdom, let's go seek after that. Then all those other things we need and want will automatically be added to us. :)
